: I have a question about wood colors. I am close to the point where
: I will start milling my strips. I want to use Cedar, and
: possibly some pine for lighter accents. I want to attempt a
: pattern very like that on the Cover of The Strip Built Sea
: Kayak.

: So my question is about color. How do you determine what the color
: will look like once it is is glassed? I really would like there
: to be a contrast between the woods. I'm pretty sure I can use
: pine for the lightest strips, I am just curious about how to
: select the darker woods in the raw form.

I have used several different woods for contrastI collect differnt woods and like to "include" in my creations.Put the lightest samples next to the darkest so making the most of what you've got.
Be aware that pine especially and all woods are "photo sensitive".They will darken over time exposed to sunlight.Wetting with water is an indication .
