I had to read the post twice - are you saying "why can we buy a table saw with no safety stuff"?

When I buy a push power mower, the socket set comes out and all the safety stuff comes off.

One thing has improved a lot and that's the motors. There're smaller and more powerful. I had an old cast iron Craftsman but the giant motor was weak. Supposed to be 2.5 hp. I trashed it because a replacement motor was too expensive and got a Rigid portable. Plus one worm gear was distorted and also tough to find a replacement.
