Do you mean "riving knife" or "splitter"?

They are two entirely different animals. A low-profile riving knife, as they've been implemented on European saws for years, raises and lowers with the blade and sits unobtrusively behind it. It does not get in the way of the majority of cuts one makes on the saw, nor does it protrude above it, but it virtually eliminates binding and kickback. What most saws sold in this country have used is a splitter with an attached blade guard, which it typically a monstrosity that constantly gets in the way and makes it difficult to see what you're doing. The bastardized riving knives that incorporate guards are no better. I would love to have a low-profile riving knife on my Delta Contractor's saw, but I'm not aware of any way to retrofit one.
