First, thanks for all the responces, especially the ones on end treatment.

Second, if this generated so much controversy, the paddles are probably worth checkin into. Especially if all I have to do is whittle one out of a 2x4 to find out.

Third, I need two paddles anyways. I'll by a wooden take apart, one with the ferules that alough me to pick the amount of feather.

After all this is suppose to be an 'expermental' craft I'm building!

... and that much more fun to have with it. :)
