There is also a story in this months Sea Kayaker about a 76 yr old man that went out with a wetsuit that was too large for him--thus decreasing the wetsuits effectiveness when cold water gets between the suit and one's body. Plus, he was unfortuneately not very skilled at re-entry (and could not roll) should he capsize. One of the differences of this story to that one is that in the Sea Kayaker article he went out in fairly calm conditions that became treacherous once he was out. This poor soul went out in 9-15's from the get-go. What was he thinking? Unless he just found out he had terminal cancer and was getting in one "last good paddle."
