I never finished building the sponson deck for my son's Parr. Before I even finished the kayak, I took it to a neighbor's pool and put my son in it. I thought he would flip right over, but he did a great job keeping it upright, so I didn't finish the sponsons. He did capsize recently, but he was getting a bit overexcited (he's only 5) and was paddling like a little maniac. When he paddles normally, he doesn't have any problems.

Last winter/spring I took my son kayak camping and had to tow him most of the way. Even with my son and some camping gear in the Parr, it didn't feel like I was pulling much at all. The Parr is a very efficient little hull. Little kids don't have a whole lot of power, and my son can keep his kayak moving along at decent pace. It's a great little boat.
