Once you go to lighter plywood glass on the interior becomes a significant factor for strength and reducing tiny cracks in the epoxy that allow water stains.

The 3.25oz fine weave e-glass isn't very abrasion resistant if the fill coat over it is thin. I've been surprised how easy it is to sand through it compared to regular weave 4oz e-glass as the regular weave has more texture and takes up more epoxy to fill it. The s-glass iteself is more abrasion resistant than e-glass. It's something you can notice if you were to scrape two glassed panels with a utility knife. You'll go through the e-glass quicker.

The reason the fine weave is so neat is that it'll take up as much resin as you'd use for two thin fill coats, which you'd do anyway if you didn't want the wood to be susceptible to waterstaining.

RAKA has lower prices for s-glass. I'd suggest using 3.25ozT fineweave cloth to pre-glass the interior of the sides and bottom panels with a layer of 4oz s-glass in the cockpit and 4oz s-glass on the exterior. You could go for minimal use of epoxy if everything was fine weave but if you were really concerned about abrasion from muddy feet then at least put a thick patch of glass under your heels.
