: Hull of 3/16 inch cedar strips and 1/8 inch 3-ply plywood
: "doorskin" deck. I am 6 foot and 200 # so reinforcing the
: cockpit and hatch area is a must.
: PS How goes your boat project Kudzu?
I am 200# and I think you would be going over board. Kyles doubles, if I am not mistake were deck with 3mm and had to two people in that boat. If the standard deck won't support you then the boat wouldn't be safe! The hull has to hold your weight too. Getting in and out you concentrate you weight in one place. But I think you are grossly underestimating the strength of the hull once fiberglassed.
A lot the strength and ridgedness comes from the shape of the deck. A round strip deck would probably be stronger than flat plywood. if your going to strip the hull why would you plywood the deck? Thats what is most seen and should look the best. Nothing personal, but I think your thinking to hard. Build it as designed.
Mine is coming along well. Expected to start the stripping the deck last night but maybe tonight. Tommorow for sure!!
