I would agree with Richard. I really like my Japanese pull saw. I just use the end "tip" to gently score back and forth on the line. Just keep doing that on the line until you have made a nice groove about 1 - 1 1/2" long. That groove will eventually cut through the strip, then your set to cut. Only thing maybe that the width (not thickness) of the blade may prevent certain small radius corner cuts. I have 2 pull saws, one around 1 1/4" for most cutting and another about 5/8" (I think) for cuts that curve more. Looking forward to doing this when I start on the hatches soon!! If you feel this method is too "brutal" I would use a utility knife with a new blade and a straight edge and just keep scoring until I had cut through.
