Shawn,
LOL Great list of possibles!!! :D I think nearly all of the above. Years ago noticed with Dyson bidarka that it took as much about an extra hour and a half to get the boat from the truck and into the water.... then ussual. PLS (Parking Lot Syndrome) made the total put in about 3 hours.

Reason being..... Folks want to come over and look at the "boootiful boat." I find wooden boats can take even longer... Hey Bertha....come on over here and have a look at this fellers boat..... Last year I had a Japanesse tour bus taking pictures of them selves standing next to the yak. In Ogunquit...
That was 50 seperate cases of PLs in a language I don't understand. Kind a neat.

PLS can be a plus and a minus I guess. It neat to have folks appreciate the work and beauty of them. However, I think possibly the only down side of driving one of these beauties is the PLS. I have met some really nice folks during PLS, but at the same time it is often time away from the water. I'm trying to get 'em in the water and go and folks want to stop you to talk and admire.... Folks want to know how they are built. ETc...No sooner do ya get done with one conversation and someone else walks up and starts all over. I generally don't mind talking about the boats for a bit but after 4 or 5 I'm ready to get in the water. The worst is having to sort of insist its time to leave for some paddling.

Now I know I am not the only one who gets PLS. Given the pictures I have seen on this BBS in some cases it must be extreme. Frankly, I wonder how some of you ever wade through the crowd to water. I have noticed that it is true for all non production boats, but worse for some of the real beauts.

Its gotten to the point that my production boat paddle buddies have refered to stealth put-ins. One guy threatened to cover my boat in a burlap sack drive right onto the water launch the boat aand remove the cover. Another guy threatened to spray paint my boat and make it look ugly to get the boat in the water easier.

Did ya ever notice that when ya put a wooden boat on your vehical and drive on the highway folks speed up to slow down next to ya for a closer look....We call that DBG. Drive-by-Gawking. Genrally, they wave or point at your roof rack. Its kind of cool, but stoppin in rest area's is never the quick trip to the lew it used to be..... I had one lady pull out her check book and over to write me a check Wanted the boat of the roof as a birthday present for her husband..... Gee and all I wanted was to stop in for a soda....

The wierdest PLS I have ever experenced was having divers pop up out of the water to tell me what the herring bone pattern on the bottom of my 20 foot GE looked like from the bottom. They were from Boston, and ... I felt like I was with the art history crowd. "An intresting use of texture and light sublte, but still a pattern rendering the viewer... aproximate life energy....." Same thing there is my paddling group trying to move on and I'm I've got some folks in neooprene literlly bubbling about the art work floating above them.

Steve, given what I have seen in the photo, you have surely upped your put in time and your deeply harmed your paddling time for sure. Generally, I take the put in time and double it for the time for putting in a nonprodction boat. In Steve's case,....Well he may as well just plan on staying ashore.... :D

As for you Shawn... I've seen pictures of you boat, and dispite the wet suit color combo (LOL) I gaaaaaaaaaaaruntee your getting lots of PLS out in rope and ride 'em big sky country. Heck I'm sure that boat of yours stops herds of cattle out there on the open range!
