Thanks guys. I could make do with what I have: Silicon Carbide paper and a handful of water stones. I guess it would be nice to have a low speed grinder of some kind. Any recommendations? It looks like Woodcraft has some for right around $100 - that's probably the best route.

It's funny you both mentioned a treadle/foot power. I saw a treadle lathe on the Woodrights Shop and have thought it's a cool idea ever since.
