Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I'm just finishing my 3rd S&G boat project, and after reading Morris' book I've become very interested in building a SOF Greenland kayak. I know the book suggests using Sitka Spruce, but is kind of vague on what other woods are acceptable. Doug Fir is the most available in my neck of the woods and air-dried is hard to come by.

I'm wondering if some of you SOF builders can share some of the woods you've used for your frames, what you learned from it and where it's really important to use air-dried or green vs. kiln dried.

Thanks,
Kellan
