I favor the Kajak hatch line. In my experience they are totally waterproof. And I have not had problems with the rubber deteriorating over the 10 years that I have had them.

They are heavier than the Beckson hatches. I have found the later to leak and get grit in the threads when used in the camping environment.

I like the Kajak hatches for the rain when on shore because they can be left on "loose" which keeps the rain out yet easy to take on and off.
