I have to replace the rubber hatches of my P&H Baidarka Explorer every four to five years because of brittleness. They wear out very fast by UV. The kayak is always lying indoors so the only exposure time is during kayaking.
On the Nigth Heron I will use the flat hatches from the deck material but I am thinking of making a closure like a water tight bag underneath.

Greatings from the Netherlands where is lying 30 cm snow. The most we had in five years. Beautifull but we are not acustumed to it so there are many problems with trafic.
