Thank you all for the most informative replies to my questions. It looks like these hatches may work for me, are water tight and no real comments on how they must look on a wooden hull. I was tending towards the black ones, but the white ones on the white hulled boat don't look so bad, either. That is one beautiful boat! It was nice to note that these also come in 8" sizes. This OI is going to be my fast rough water boat, so durability and seaworthiness are of prime importance to me.
