As happens i installed seven of these on the Njord i built a year ago. Six on deck and one on the rear bulkhead. Sizes 4 to 8 inches, one 5" day hatch in front of the coaming, with a bag attached to it, for lunch etc. , one 4" in the very bows with a bulkhead for small things like keys, and one 8" and one 6" for each storage space. Total weight was 1,5 kilograms. This is very practical on trips with overnight gear.

It was also very easy to do the inside seam as access was excellent. But i had to make over every form to get a flat deck and this took some figuring. I kept the overall height of the original and essentially have three flat panels. Made the flat top as narrow as the hatch rings permitted, but nevertheless the overall volume is a little higher. No trouble getting the feet in either, although the boat is quite narrow and low.

ps. one of the taiwanese 8" rings wasn't flat, and leaked a little. it was replaced by the vendor at no cost.
