whoops -- just looked at the thermometer in my shop, and realized I had done the stitching in the 40s, rather than 50s.

And, a note that may bear on the question of wet/dry: The stems of this boat are more plumb than Greenland boats and some others. There was no way I was going to get the nylon to follow the abrupt angles, so had to stitch, trim, then cross-over whip-stitch, like in the bidarka video.

: indicated. At any rate, the tension and stability of the nylon
: is so good that I will try to nearly duplicate my sewing
: procedure on the next effort. Maybe slightly less tension on the
: fabric.

: For each stitch, I pulled the fabric nearly as hard as I could --
: and could hold between finger and thumb, as I ran the needle
: with the other hand. The main tensioning on the nylon sinew came
: every few stitches, from pulling lengthwise along the deck
: ridge. I pulled hard, and was amazed at the strength of the
: sinew.

: The white isn't quite as stark as the first photo indicates. The
: photo on the truck hints at the very light tinge of green in
: there, that comes from the goop. It's more obvious at
: application, but faded as it cured.
