Hi Etienne,

I've decided on a design direction for my skeg, and will soon begin. It will be for a 17 ft. Bluefin S&G, by Eric Schade.

I am going to do a pie wedge, and narrower, flat blade, with edges barely rounded. It will fit as flush and seamlessly to the hull exterior as I can get it, with just a bit of wiggle room.

The thinner blade begs the question of how to attach the cable, since there's not going t be much meat to work with, and using hardware beyond the thickness of the blade would be clunky. Gnarlydog solves that about 1/4 of the way down his skeg page, using a slot, with a hole at the end for cable-fray, and the cable epoxy'd in place (and, glassed over, I think).

And, I'll not go with slotted blade over fixed pin that most pie-wedge skegs use, again in the interest of having the most streamlined fit possible. So, I expect I'll use your hinge pin and fitting design. That 6mm nylon axle you used, and planned to replace with stainless, or something... have you found anything yet that that is easily identified and purchased?
