I built my first two kayaks using 1/4" stripps 5 years ago. Now I see some commercial builders have gone to 3/16". Is everybody on-board with that?

Surely you don't mean 100% of us agree on anything?

But, yes, I'd say that most builders who post here are using strips thinner than 1/4".
As the strips get thinner they get more flexible 'in a hurry' (half the thickness=1/8 the stiffness) so it gets more difficult to keep the surfaces fair - especially if the mold spacing is wider. On the other hand, it gets a lot easier to deal with bends and twists in the strips.
