I don’t recall implying that there were any problems with the program’s development of panels. The fairing was good to +/- about a millimeter (including my plotting of the offsets and cutting out :>) and required nothing more than a few fat toothpick spacers in the flatter areas to remove a couple of hollow (more like flat) spots at the keel.

I ended up mainly trying to describe an easy way to avoid detailed modeling of the stems as there is a substantial difference between panel sizes (stitched together) and the final kayak if you don’t want sharp edges, especially on designs that are long & skinny with traditional pinched ends.

I found the program overall quite easy to use, and not at all restrictive – I was very impressed with how close the rocker was and how well the bulkheads (plotted) fit given the fact that one of the designs (Lc148) had quite complex curves in all directions.

I found the developability checks quite useful, one just needs a bit of experience to make the connection to the real world of plywood and epoxy. It's pretty hard to imagine an interesting design with no twist or compound curves.

All in all, with a little practice it seems quite reasonable that one could go from a survey or table of offsets to a stitched together hull in about a day, assuming no diddling with the design.
