Dave,

You can right click on the view and pick mode then either developability check or Gaussian curvature and play with those. You will probably want to have the resolution set to high or highest - fifth button from the left on the toolbar at the top. You can also use highlight compressed or stretched edges in the view showing the developed plates. You have to have “show interior edges” selected. Both buttons are near the center of the tool bar in that view.

All that said, about the only thing you can really change without modifying the design too much is where the chine intersects the stems......

In the end with enough straps, clamps, sticks and wire and a judiciously placed station form or two you can really make the 4mm ply do just about anything you need it to.
