I don't have a problem with Hull/Deck. I overlap in a ~2mm region about 3/4" below the shear line.

If I follow your varnishing instruction, I seperate the deck and hull in ~12"-16" wide sections. I start with one section on the left then do the right and continue to alternate. When I come back for the adjacent 12-16" section my varnish doesn't flow perfectly into the previous section and when you look shallow enough you can see a small step. It takes very little to sand it out - but you can see it. It takes me about 45 min to varnish the hull and I use ~150 ml of varnish.
