Hi Rob,

I am using Captain's varnish (~manufactured June 2001). The can was full all the way when I started my first varnish coat on the outside ~2 1/2 weeks ago. The varnish blends somewhat (edges within ~1/16" smooth out), but a thickness variation is visible. I am using reasonable pressure on the brush trying to smooth the edge out.

What is the optimum temperature? I am varnishing at ~70-80F and I am using lots of light (temperature goes up)

: That's what I thought. What kind of varnish are you using?

: I use unthinned Z-spar Captian's varnish and do not have that problem.

: Your varnish should remain liquid, long enough for you to drag a
: new wet edge into the older varnish and have them melt together.
