S&G: 6 foot Cirrus model *Pic*

Well it just seems like model day today, so I thought I'd share a couple shots of my Cirrus model hull. At 1/3 the size, using 1/8" luan, the cradels and internal forms work great. Just a few more wires, and it'll be ready for inside partial fillets (so I can still pull wires out). The outside will get 4oz glass and the inside will just get scraps. For those building or considering building a Cirrus, it looks like an easy build. With only four hull panels, using the internal forms, the hull takes shape quickly, with no noticeable pinching at the ends. I am a believer of internal forms, especially on these small models, because the wood just doesn't like to bend from horz. to vert. in such a short distance. Full size shouldn't be tough. Still need the hull plywood and wife's permission to get started, the models however are viewed as a craft/hobby at my house and this one was wired last night on the coffee table while watching the Sonics game in my living room. Model building is a BLAST! With approx. 1 hour of plan measuring, 1 hour drafting (to scale down), 1.5 hrs. to cut panels, forms, and cradles, 1.5 hrs. wiring up the hull - Total 5 hours so far. Today, I emailed Vaclav of One Ocean Kayak to find out about any associated fees with regard to building models from his Cirrus design. I haven't heard back from him yet. Looking forward to building the real deal.
