To this point, I still think it's a reasonable idea to build a model version of each boat before I commit to full-size. As this gives me equal amount of pleasure, makes great gifts, probably would be easier to sell than a real boat, doesn't take quite as long to finish, and as I've said before - you can work on it wherever you want to. Gaining experience, through the same construction methods, allowing my mind to wander over different building ideas throughout the process, and the feeling of pride you get when you hand it to someone while discussing this kayak building addiction are just a few reasons I can think of for building models.
