John,

I usually pay about $80 for cedar and accents for a kayak. Not clear so there is lots of waste.
The 4x8 order would have been $500+ without accent wood. I might of decided it was worth it in aggravation if I could have looked at the lumber before it I had to purchase it.

So my piece meal smaller boards are about $1.30 per board foot.
The 4x8 would have been about $5.30 per board foot.
I can get mahogany for $5.50 per board foot locally.

When you bought your large supply what did you pay?

Don't let me mislead you. I wanted to get the long clear wood, but this was not a money making boat. It is a present to a relative, who won't know the difference. Everyone has different priorities.
