In Response To: Strip: Rolling bevel on rough strips (Dave Stoup)

Since your new to strip building - every edge will need some adjustment so it doesn't matter if one edge is rough. You're going to hit them all with the plane anyhow. Maybe if your back deck is flat you could benifit from perfectly milled 90 degree angle strips but I highly doubt that's the case.

The rolling bevel is really used on severe cases like that transition from the front deck to the back deck. For the greater % of the boat, a bevel is all that's needed with maybe a slight variation here and there. It's not like you jumped off a cliff into this horrible world of difficult rolling bevels. So, you will hit all the edges a bit with the plane so don't worry about the rough edge on our wood.

I would use the strips with your rough edge down - starting with the hull. Then you would be planing each rough edge as it mates with the one on the forms.
