I thought about doing that but the peel ply I had only liked to bend in one direction. It doesn't like any compound curvature. i would have needed to use thin strips. It also wouldn't help due to the reverse curvature at the deck/recess. Maybe use peelply on just the top surface of the rim (ie on the deck only)... There's a thought. Hand laying worked fine but THE way to do it would be to vacuum it! One of these days I'll buy a vacuum pump...
