Hey, Jesper, the knife is a last defence item, not first defence. The blade is long enough to penetrate a bears heart and I know that if I ever had to use it - I have one chance only. That said, there have been a few stories over the last six years of guys who had to fight off attacking bears and succeeded, even killing one with a knife. The knife also makes a great tool and that is its primary purpose. I'm the kind of guy who would not lay down and die if attacked, hence the knife. I'd rather die with my boots on and knife unsheathed than not. I'd rather not have to kill an animal just for self-defence, that is why I am respectful when I am out there.
